Connecting Your Slack Workspace

Overview

Connect your Slack workspace to allow Asimov the ability to connect team conversations to your code, docs, tickets, and other organization data.

Initial Connection

During onboarding

  1. Authorization screen: When you reach the Connect Slack step, click "Add Slack Workspace"

  2. Workspace selection: Choose which Slack workspace you want to connect

  3. Permission authorization: Review and approve the requested permissions

From settings

  1. Navigate to Settings: Click the settings icon in the top navigation

  2. Integrations Tab: Select "Integrations" from the left sidebar

  3. Slack Section: Click "Connect" next to the Slack integration

  4. Follow Authorization Flow: Complete the same setup process as above

What access we request

Channel access

  • Post messages to channels where the bot is invited

  • Read channel names and member lists

  • Access to public channels and private channels where explicitly added

User information

  • Access to user profiles for @mentions and direct messages

  • Ability to send direct messages to team members

Workspace information

  • Basic workspace details for proper integration

  • Team member information for collaboration features
